Windows Remote Assistance lets someone you trust take over your PC and fix a problem from wherever they are.

On the Windows PC you want to connect to remotely, download the Microsoft Remote Desktop assistant to configure your PC for remote access. Use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app to connect to a remote PC or virtual apps and desktops made available by your admin. The app helps you be productive no matter where you are. Before you can use it, you'll need to enable access. In the search box on the taskbar, type remote assistance, and then select Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer from the list of results. Then, on the Remote tab, select the Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer check box, and then select OK.

To get help:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type remote assistance again and select Invite someone to connect to your PC and help you, or offer to help someone else.

  2. Select Invite someone you trust to help you.

  3. Do one of the following: If you've never used Easy Connect, select Use Easy Connect. If you've used Easy Connect before, select your helper’s contact name. To invite someone who isn't on your contact list, select Invite someone to help you.

  4. Follow the instructions.

  1. Go to the search box and enter remote assistance, then select Invite someone to connect to your PC and help you, or offer to help someone else.

  2. Select Help someone who has invited you.

  3. Do one of the following: If you’re using Easy Connect for the first time, select Use Easy Connect. Or, if you’ve used Easy Connect before, select the contact name of the person you want to help. To help someone not on the list, tap or click Help someone new.

  4. Follow the instructions.

Enable Remote Desktop Windows 10 Home Edition

Use Remote Desktop on your Windows, Android, or iOS device to connect to a Windows 10 PC from afar.

Enable Rdp Windows 10 Home

  1. Set up the PC you want to connect to so it allows remote connections:

    • Make sure you have Windows 10 Pro. To check, go to Start > Settings > System > About and look for Edition. For info on how to get it, go to Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro.

    • When you're ready, select Start > Settings > System > Remote Desktop, and turn on Enable Remote Desktop.

    • Make note of the name of this PC under How to connect to this PC. You'll need this later.

  2. Use Remote Desktop to connect to the PC you set up:

    • On your local Windows 10 PC: In the search box on the taskbar, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then select Remote Desktop Connection. In Remote Desktop Connection, type the name of the PC you want to connect to (from Step 1), and then select Connect.

    • On your Windows, Android, or iOS device: Open the Remote Desktop app (available for free from Microsoft Store, Google Play, and the Mac App Store), and add the name of the PC that you want to connect to (from Step 1). Select the remote PC name that you added, and then wait for the connection to complete.
